Our process

Our team is really small (10x smaller than other AGI labs) and so it’s extremely important that everyone owns and delivers on a large part of the big picture.

We found that take-home exercises are the best way to evaluate this, and they conveniently give folks a fair shot at showing what they are capable of regardless of how well-decorated their resume is. Our longer take-home is paid because we want to be respectful with your time.

For this reason, our decisions are heavily based on take-homes. For technical roles, the process involves:

Application review

We review your application and try to reply within 2 days.

Initial interview

This is to get a quick feel for whether it’s a mutual fit. We ask questions, you ask questions.

Take-home #1

The first take-home exercise assesses your general programming skills. Most successful candidates complete the exercise in ~8 hours.

Interview with a senior team member

In-depth open discussion with a senior technical staff member.

Take-home #2

This paid exercise simulates the type of work you will be doing on the job and usually takes candidates a weekend to complete.

Presentation

You first present your work on the second take-home and we ask you questions about it.

In-person team meeting

This is an opportunity to get to know the rest of the team over lunch in our office or one-on-one walks outside.

Reference check

We typically ask for 3 references.
